Dates: June 30-July1, 2018

Class Times: Sat 9am-5pm, Sun 9am-2:30pm

Instructor: Grant Taylor

Bring a sturdy chair to hand cane (the kind that has lots of holes around the seat). It must not need repairs or wobble.  Most people can finish a chair in 10-16 hours, but there will be homework after class. Email me at grant@celticwood.com with the hole size and spacing i.e. 1/4" hole, 3/8" spacing so I can order the right kind of cane.

Material Cost: $35

About the Instructor:

Grant Taylor has been a professional woodworker since 1975. A founding member of the Guild of New Hampshire Woodworkers and a state-juried member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, Taylor studied in the United States with master woodcarver Art Ritchie of Keene, New Hampshire, and in Connemara, Ireland with furniture master Al O'Dea. He also has attended the Celtic College in Goderich, Ontario, to study the design and construction of Celtic knotwork, spirals, and key patterns.
Taylor has combined his training of carving and Irish design to make traditional Celtic and Celtic-inspired furniture since 1981. His chairs, tables, beds, nightstands, and other pieces feature Celtic design elements such as carved knotwork and woven súgán (pronounced sue-gone) chair seats.  See his beautiful work at www.celticwood.com.
