Dates: August 11-13, 2017
Class Times: Fri-Sat 9am-5pm; Sun 9am-2:30pm
Instructor: Nancy Dorian
Open Studio: Fri-Sat 7-9pm
Using Nuno felting techniques, you will be elated as you transform layers of hand-painted silks, sumptuous merino wool roving and other novelty silk embellishments into gorgeous flowing fabric. During the felting process, the wool fibers migrate through the weave of the silk and entangle, pulling the silk and any other embellishments along with them as they shrink. This results in an incredibly lightweight garment that drapes the body beautifully. On day one of this two-day workshop, we will hand dye and use a microwave to heat-set the silk. Then, move on to the nuno felting portion later in the day covering design, layout, felting, fulling and finishing, to create your own art-to-wear. The instructor will supply silk yardage, wool roving, embellishments, dyes and use of tools and equipment to complete 2 scarves. Additional silk yardage and scarf kits will be available for sale.
Material Cost: $65
