F11 - Color for the Fiber Artist July 27-29, 2018

Dates:  July 27-29, 2018

Class Times: Fri-Sat 9am-5pm; Sun 9am-2:30pm

Instructor:  Susan Rockwell

Open Studio:  Fri-Sat 7-9pm

In this class, students will learn the basics of color theory and how to use color. We will explore the effects and uniqueness of color as one yarn interlaces with another. Color must be approached much differently for the fiber artist because colors of each chosen yarn will not change as it does for the painter who can simply mix two colors and easily get whatever color they desire. We will discuss type, weight, finishing and structure of fiber as it relates to color. There will be plenty of exercises, which will result in color samples to take home. This class will start with making a color wheel of yarn and a chart of "Color-aid" paper which will be invaluable for making excellent color choices as you work on your exercises in class and when you return home.

Material Cost:  $50
