F11 - Felted Purses August 13, 2017

In this one day class, students will have the opportunity to make several felted purses of different designs. The class will start with an overview and demonstration of the wet felting process. Water, soap and rubbing create felt! Beautiful prepared fleece in wonderful colors will be provided. Using a resist or form, seamless bags and purses will be made with a variety of top flaps and attachments. Felted straps and felted embellishments will be covered. This class is a lot of fun! A list of simple supplies to bring to class will be provided.

About the Instructor: 

Bonnie Gale has been a traditional willow basketmaker and willow artist for the past 33 years. With degrees from the University of Manchester, MIT and SUNY-ESF, she engages in spatial design and containment. In the last 8 years, she has been building living willow structures. Her work has been published in House and Garden, Vogue Living, Early American Life and Fiber Arts magazines. In 1999, she was awarded a NYFA Artist Fellowship and in April 2010, she appeared on the Martha Stewart Show. She wrote her first book “Living Willow Form” in 2014.
