In this 4 day class, students will be learn about natural dyeing and commerical dyes and their effeect on wool. We will use the colors we produce to make a variety of projects ranging from felted landscapes emphasizing textural qualities and 3 dimentional bowls and felted scarves using wet and needle felting techniques. This class will expand your horizons as you think about the properties of wool and how natural and man made fibers go hand in hand to create beautiful and unique pieces of fiber art. About the Instructor:
Sandi Cirillo, a retired art educator, currently lives in Searsport, Maine and has been a fiber artist for over 20 years. Her passion is woring with natural and manmade textural materials to create one-of-a-kind mixed media pieces of art. Sandi also teaches many fiber workshops throughout the Northeast and in North Carolina. She also teaches drawing classes at Senior College in Belfast, Maine. She enjoys introducing adults and children to the joys of fiber art. Sandi's work is in many private collections and she exhibits locally and nationally. Influences for her drawings and fiber artwork come from her love of hiking and photographing nature.
