Open Studio:  Mon-Thurs 7-9pm

Leaves and flowers placed on specially treated fabric, and then steamed, release their pigments to create realistic prints on the fabric. The process includes a bit of science and a bit of magic. Watch the video at www.marydelanofiberarts.com, to see the fun that awaits you. In the first three days of this class, we will learn the basics of eco printing, including the preparation (mordanting) of the fabric and selection and use of plants. We will also learn to extend the pleasure of eco printing into the winter, by stitching and collaging the prints together into table runners or wall hangings. We will use very simple embroidery stitches, thus making the entire class accessible to complete beginners. All students will be encouraged to try stitching, but those who don’t want to pursue it can spend more time eco printing. Students will leave confident in their skills to repeat the process at home so that they can continue to explore the wonders of eco printing. Class may be taken as a 3 day class or a 5 day class

Materials Fee:  $75
