As we look at nature closely, we begin to see her “hidden” design of color combinations and intricacies of line, form and texture. This workshop is dedicated to paying homage to the time-honored tradition of the artistic study of nature -- only with a modern twist of close proximity. All natural subjects can be our muse including, rocks, leaves, water, bark, grass, flowers etc. Be ready to be astonished by unmitigated beauty and vast, visual design possibilities! Demonstration and critiques with lots of fun, learning, and painting time! Please bring close-up photos and/or work from life. All levels welcome.

About the Instructor:
Award-winning artist Robert Carsten attended the Art Students League of New York, the Rhode Island School of Design and the Accademia di Belle Arti (Italy). He is a board member and signature member of the Pastel Society of America and is a contributing writer to Pastel Journal and The Artist's Magazine. His pastel paintings have been shown in many museums and galleries and are collected worldwide. He has been featured in Pure Color/The Best of Pastel, Pastel Journal, American Art Review, The Artist's Magazine, Strokes of Genius/The Best of Drawing and Finding Your Style in Pastel.
