This workshop will cover the basic principles of landscape painting in the watercolor medium, and will be geared especially to the beginning and intermediate painter. Students will learn glazing techniques, use of color, composition, the importance of value and creating texture through the use of dry brush technique. Painting light and shadow will be introduced and some drawing experience is recommended. Students will learn how to paint skies, trees, rocks, water, and structure and how to compose these subjects into a finished painting. nurtures their heart and soul as well.

About the Instructor:
Robert O'Brien has been painting in the watercolor medium for over 40 years and teaching for over 30 years. Since moving to Vermont in 1977, his work has focused on landscape,florals, architectural studies and portraits. Robert is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, New England Watercolor Society, the North East Watercolor Society and the Central NY Watercolor Society. his work has won many awards throughout his long career in watercolor painting. Most recently he was awarded the Silver Medal in the New England Watercolor Society's 2016 Juried Signature Members Show in Boston. Robert’s subjects are mainly close-focus, using the dry-brush technique in many of his works. Robert lives and paints in Weathersfield Vermont.
