This class is for beginners who have always wanted to paint in oil. or those who have a little experience and want to enhance their skills. We will work from photos and still life, and concentrate on composition, form, shading and value. We will begin with a value painting in one color, and work on blending, light, and shadow. We will gradually add more color each day to our compositions. We will be working on one painting a day. Some drawing experience is helpful but not necessary.

About the Instructor:
A full time resident of Manchester since 2015, Kate graduated from Wheaton College in Massachusetts with a B.A. in Art History. She then studied fine art for three years at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Kate has been teaching art privately since 2003, and currently teaches part time at the Manchester Arts Studio and Gallery and at the Southern Vermont Art Center. She also has her own paint and sip business in Manchester. Kate has received several awards for oil painting, from the Somerset Art Association in New Jersey. She has exhibited at the art center in Manchester, and at local pop up galleries and stores.
