S8 - Trellises for the Garden July 29, 2017

Dates: July 29, 2017

Class Times: Sat 10am-5pm

Instructor: Bonnie Gale

Open Studio: None

In this one day workshop, students can make a total of two pieces to take home: an English hoop trellis and/or a pea cage trellis.  Wooden jigs are available for use. The hoop trellis will be woven on a bench using a jig (or alternatively, in the ground). It is approximately two feet in diameter and involves curving rods over and through in three tiers and securing with weaving. The pea cage or trellis will be secured in the ground in a radius and secured with bands of weaving. The pea cage is five feet or less tall and useful to support the growing of vines. Fresh willow and other woods will be provided as well as young willow for weaving. No previous rustic experience necessary. This is a fun and productive class! Students should be prepared to work outside kneeling on the ground or standing and be physically flexible for this class. We aim to have this class outside if the weather permits. A list of simple supplies to bring to class will be provided.

Material Cost:  $89
