With the theme of making a garden animal, the student will explore metals, (Steel, Copper) mediums and ways to cut, bend and fasten metals along with creating a finished piece. I will include a quick intro to gas (oxy-acetylene) welding. This may lead to a sculpture welding class where students can learn sculpting methods using (Steel, Copper) as a medium in the round and for structural purposes.

About the Instructor:
For 20 years Piper has made art and art objects for the craft and fine art market and display. She has an MFA from The University of Pennsylvania and a minor in Art History. She has taught at the College level, Plymouth State and at the school age level for 10 plus years. Her work has been in public and private collections in the US and abroad, been featured in The New York Times and American Art, as well as Craft Magazine. She loves the natural form, especially animals and the human figure. She works with gesture and art history based themes, mostly relating to myth, working primarily with steel and brass.
