Class Description:
A Mokok is a container that is indigenous to the Northeast Woodlands Native Tribes. It has a rectangular bottom and an oval top. Students will sew white pine bark that feels like leather when wet and dries like wood, with spruce roots that you will peel and prepare. You will make an inner and an outer rim with red willow that you will bend and split. Learn about harvesting and the many uses of bark. If time permits you could embellish your Mokok with bark applique.
