Janet Flinchbaugh started out as a speech therapist who enjoyed art. She became enamored of crewel embroidery and this lead to several years of teaching the art form. Then after taking a class in stenciled floorcloths she was “hooked” and has been painting floorcloths for thirty plus years. She has painted rugs for several historic sites as well as numerous homes and has taught at Chautauqua Institute, and Adirondack Folk School in Lake Luzerne, N.Y. She has also been listed in the Early American Life magazine directory of the 200 best craftspeople in the country. Her first barn quilt was made at the request of her son and his wife.
