In this first class exploring painting on fabric, we will focus on painting on silk. In the morning, we will experiment with resists—since color migrates a lot on silk and needs to be contained—to create a couple of small compositions. In the afternoon, we will color the compositions in with silk paints. Frames, pins, silk, resists, brushes, and silk paints will be supplied by the instructor. You can bring a photograph or other artwork to class to use as inspiration for your compositions. Students can take 1, 2, or all 3 classes in this series.
