Class Description:

Learn an innovative process to create your own unique quilt. No rules, no patterns, no points to match, and seams that don’t have to be exact. It’s a great way to use fabric that you have on hand, or you may choose from fabrics available in class. You may choose to do a “liberated” version of a traditional pattern, or you can choose a more intuitive approach. Complete a small
quilt or wall hanging, or begin a larger project if you choose. This workshop is for beginner quilters as well as more advanced looking to try something new.

You must know how to use a sewing machine. Come with your own machine, sewing supplies, and a curious mind. If you cannot bring your own machine, one can be provided for your use.

Please review the above “additional information” tab for the workshop supply list.

Instructor Biography:

SUSAN DAMONE BALCH is a teaching artist. She has been quilting since 1978 and has exhibited her work and won awards throughout the country. Fly fishing, nature, and her extensive fabric collection provide the inspiration for Susan’s original art quilts. She teaches machine techniques such as piecing, appliqué, and quilting. Whether you are a traditional quilter or looking to push yourself to work more intuitively, Susan can guide you through the process.
