This workshop is for those that have wanted to explore the wonderful world of watercolor, or those that have tried this medium and are struggling or frustrated. We will explore the fundamentals of this medium: washes, paint to water ratio, and types of brushstrokes as well as go over what brushes to use, paint to purchase, and types of paper available.
After some practice we will then apply the techniques as a class, painting a simple landscape step by step.
Please Note: Using professional grade supplies and having success in watercolor is very important. Student grade materials will greatly hinder progress in this medium.
Watercolor is not particularly staining, but don’t wear your best clothing.
A resident of Weston Vermont, Betsy Johnson has been a watercolor landscape artist for five years. She is inspired by the spectacular beauty of the New England area and enjoys painting “en plein air” in the summer months. She teaches watercolor in her studio at home as well as teaching art at Okemo Mountain School.
