What you will learn

• Understand how to create a single-color block print.
• Develop a clear understanding of the steps needed to plan, design and carve a successful print.
• Hand burnish a print using softcut carving block and non-toxic water-based inks
• Experiment with monoprints and nature print backgrounds
• Combine blockprinting and nature printing to create your own unique print

All materials needed for the class will be provided and will include:

• Softcut carving blocks
• Speedball carving tools to use in the classroom
• Barens and rollers to use in the classroom
• Printmaking inks (non-toxic, water clean-up) to use in the classroom
• Printmaking paper

A comprehensive list of printmaking resources will be shared with class participants.

An avid gardener, she is inspired by the natural beauty all around us. Her work includes botanical prints, monoprints, and whimsical collages incorporating nature prints and handmade paper, combining traditional printmaking, painting, and mixed media.

Recent work has been at the Library Arts Center, Artistree, Collective: The Art of Craft in Woodstock, VT, Twiggs Gallery, and in the 2023 Women In Print show at WREN.
