Starting with a 1”x1”x8” piece of basswood, thumb guard, cut resistant glove and carving knife, students will learn how to safely execute the 3 basic woodcarving cuts, how to safely sharpen their knife, and over the course of the day will create a personalized wood spirit wizard. There will also be ample time to paint their wizard and/or create a second.
NOTE: Tuition includes a $25 one-time registration fee. If you have already paid the fee, it will be deducted from your total before your card is charged.
Wayne Miller began his woodcarving hobby as a Boy Scout over 50 years ago. A member of the National Woodcarvers Association. Wayne has been featured in Chip Chats magazine and has taught classes for teens through seniors. He has demonstrated at craft shows around NY, VT, and NH as well as at the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, MA. Over the years he has studied with nationally recognized carvers such as Pete LeClair, Chris Howard, and Dave Sabol.
Instructor will supply all necessary material and tools, but students may bring their own carving knives and gloves if so desired.
