Because this is a beginner’s class, the gnome design chosen has no eyes or hands showing. We will start with a 2″ x 2″ x 5″ piece of basswood that has already been roughed out. With the help of the instructor, students will proceed to carve a simple gnome figure. The basic kinds of cuts and safety procedures will be discussed and demonstrated. At the end of the class, students will have the option of painting their completed carving.
Students are invited to bring their own carving tools. If you do not have carving tools, the instructor will furnish them.
